Buddha Shrine opened at Cambodian Buddhist Centre, Sri Lanka….

Colombo – Sri Lanka – The Real Cambodian styled Buddha Shrine was declared open at International Cambodian Buddhist Centre premises in Kaduwela, Colombo, Sri Lanka by Sri Lankan President His Excellency Maithripala Sirisena. The newly Cambodian styled Buddha Shrine built under the concept and supervision of the Director of International Cambodian Buddhist Centre Most Venerable Cambodian Hun Khamra Kasyapa Thero.

Most Venerable Cambodian Khun Karma Kasyapa Thero honestly reminded late Madam Indrawathie Rodrigo. She is the key devotee donated this land for build Cambodian Temple. As the respect to her one of statue also built by Venerable Hun Khamra Thero and declared opened by Sri Lankan President on the same occasion. Also, Khmer devotees from Cambodia and other countries, who their contributions were facilitated by Most Venerable Dhammavipassana Mun Say and other Cambodian monks. This is the grand and golden occasion.

The President Maithripala Sirisena gifted a Bo Sapling of the Sacred Sri Maha Bodhi tree to the Chief Incumbent of the Temple Venerable Ariyawansa Nayaka Thero to plant at the Lanka Viharaya in Cambodia. A memento was presented to the President by Most Venerable Am Lim Heng Maha Nayaka Thera, Deputy Sangharaja of Cambodia and the President also presented a memento to the Nayaka Thera. The President also felicitated the Cambodian architect who contributed to the creation of the shrine room. The President also presented the felicitation certificates to the Bhikkhus of Cambodian International Buddhist Center.

On the same occasion, the religious ceremonies, including a colorful procession, Bodhi Pooja, 8000 Monks Maha Sangha Dana held at the International Cambodian Buddhist Centre premises in Kaduwela, Colombo, Sri Lanka chaired Most Venerable Am Lim Heng Maha Nayaka Thera, Deputy Sangharaja of Cambodia. This is the massive Maha Sabgha Dana held in Sri Lanka accompany Sri Lanka and overseas Monks together.

Since on long time, the Cambodian Buddhist Monks studying Dhamma in Sri Lanka. This Newly International Cambodian Buddhist Centre, now a days a symbol of Sri Lanka – Cambodia Buddhist relationship, provides residential facilities for Cambodian Buddhist monks. International Cambodian Buddhist Centre premises in Kaduwela can provide excellent comfortably accommodate 100 Cambodian monks at two story Monks quarters of the Centre. Also, have ‘David Rodrigo’ Child Development Centre.

The President Maithripala Sirisena reminded at the occasion, the long-standing friendship between Sri Lanka and Cambodia is the Theravada Buddhist philosophy and the President also said that Sri Lanka as the Centre for Theravada Buddhism will always take every possible step to develop it while strengthening relations with Buddhist countries.

Most Venerable Napana Pemasiri Mahanayaka Thera, Chief Sangha Nayaka of the Sri Lanka Ramanna Maha Nikaya and the Most Venerable Am Lim Heng Maha Nayaka Thera, Deputy Sangharaja of Cambodia, Venerable Omalpe Sobitha Thero and Her Eminence Mahopasika Sok Im with 2000 Cambodian Devotees also participated this grand occasion.
